Christmas Party for the Volunteers from Age Care Charity Shop

The volunteers from the Age Care Charity Shop enjoyed a great evening at the Casablanca Restaurant in Calahonda. A 3-course dinner was followed by dancing with music and songs provided by Arran Harding. The volunteers, who all work very hard to keep the shop and its contents in tiptop condition, were very happy to celebrate the positive results achieved since its opening in May. Manageress, Beverley Morland, thanked all the volunteers for their support and help in making the shop so successful. Maurice Featherman, Vice President, added his thanks on behalf of the committee of Age Care Association.

During the holiday period, the shop will be closed on 25, 26 and 27 December and again on 1, 2, and 3 January. So why not go along now to the shop and find something suitable for the festive season, alternatively I am sure Beverley will have a few bargains for sale in the New Year. Look out for the ‘above average’ selection, these all have a white label which means that the clothes are ’a little bit special’.

A variety of special events are held on a regular basis i.e. bedding sale, etc., notices of these are placed on the shop window or you can ring the shop on 675 874308 for further information. The shop can be found in the Centro Comercial Las Jarales, Calahonda (just past Mercadona), and is normally open Monday to Friday from 10 – 4 and Saturday from 10 – 2. Funds raised in the shop are used to further the work of Age Care Association on the Costa del Sol. If you are interested in helping in the Age Care shop, please contact 675 874308.

If you are in need of help or would like to speak to someone in confidence please contact Age Care Association on 691 761 088/655903182

About Age Care Association

Age Care Association is a fully registered, non-profit making organisation staffed entirely by volunteers. Our Spanish registration number is 6282 – CIF – G92487602 (Registro de Asociaciones de Andalucia). The majority of our work is helping older British people living in the Province of Malaga, but we do not exclude other nationalities that speak English. We provide welfare information, practical support and two help lines (Telephones: 691761088, and 655903182). The Association also has a hospital and home visiting team. Other volunteers visit people in Care Homes when necessary. As part of our work we have repatriated some individuals to the UK, where there are more caring facilities and access to benefits unavailable in Spain. Some of our volunteers have had careers in nursing, education, psychology and other caring professions and are accustomed to listening in a sympathetic and kind manner. We work closely with the British Consulate, Royal British Legion, and branches of the International Lions.
